Hi Valentina! I took a taxi to go and the bus to return from the stone forest. I don't know about the train, but the bus is cheap and convenient. Have fun in the stone forest! It is really nice!

Personally I would stick to the Stone Forest. The view there is really gorgeous. However, the journey there will really take some time if you want to take the public bus. It will eat up most of your time. It takes about 1h 30min on a one way trip by bus. It will be good if you get a personal driver. However, be careful of the locals there who ask you to take their 面包车(mian bao che) , they will try and cheat your money especially if you do not know Mandarin.
