Costa Rica has agreed to serve as a 'bridge' to repatriate illegal immigrants in the United States, including from India and Central Asia, according to an official release on Tuesday.

Costa Rica is the second Central American nation to accept migrants from distant countries as the Trump administration ramps up deportation flights.

Costa Rica, which has agreed to facilitate the transit of deportees, confirmed that its role is to “serve as a bridge” for migrants returning to their countries of origin. The Central American nation joins Panama and Guatemala in cooperating with the U.S. on this initiative.

Costa Rica repatriation efforts are underway as the country collaborates with the United States to facilitate the return of illegal migrants from Central Asia and India. This initiative makes Costa Rica the third Central American nation to support U.
