On Feb. 16, 2025, Korean actress Kim Sae Ron was found dead at home. The death of the 24-year-old, who had risen to popularity as a child actress, was later ruled a suicide. Reports soon began to emerge that Sae Ron had owed 700 million won (S$652,000) to her former agency, Gold Medalist, at the time of her death.

Gold Medalist released detailed statements about the ongoing controversy involding Kim Soo-Hyun and Kim Sae-Ron. It addressed their dating scandal and accusations that the actor and his agency were forcing her to pay them back the amount that they lent her to compensate for the losses during her DUI case.

Kim Sae-ron's mother also recently released a statement about wanting to ‘restore’ her daughter's honour after her death in February.
