Adams is at the center of a controversy over a directive by the Justice Department to drop corruption charges against him.

At least seven prosecutors in Manhattan and Washington quit rather than carry out acting Deputy U.S. Attorney General Emil Bove’s directive to halt the case, including the interim U.S. attorney in Manhattan and the acting chief of the public integrity section.

The prosecutor wrote a resignation letter to acting deputy attorney general Emil Bove in which he accuses the official of abandoning his legal ethics to do the bidding of President Donald Trump.
