U.S. President Donald Trump plans to sign an executive order on Monday designed to empower state and local governments and citizens to handle disaster preparations and relief, a White House official said.

With United States’ Education Secretary Linda McMahon confirmed as of Monday, the president’s team has drafted an executive order to end the department. It could be signed as early as Thursday, the outlet reported. President Trump has made it known that he wants McMahon “to put herself out of a job.”

It rescinds a federal mandate that requires agencies and other recipients of federal funding to provide language assistance to non-English speakers.
