Marco Rubio confirmed as Trump’s secretary of state by Senate
The full Senate has just approved Marco Rubio to be President Trump’s secretary of state, 99-0. Rubio, 53, has still not formally resigned his Senate seat, though that will surely follow soon.
Marco Rubio has changed a lot since he ran for president in 2016. But his political evolution has made him uniquely qualified to be Trump's secretary of state.
Both sides agree that it will be Trump who decides if Rubio is MAGA enough to remain a member of his administration and represent his views around the world. He unceremoniously fired his first secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, via tweet, and has long made clear he views foreign policy as his domain.
