China has rebuked the United States after the U.S. State Department remove a statement from its website declaring it does not support Taiwan independence.

China was angered that the phrase “we do not support Taiwan independence” was removed from a State Department fact sheet.

China's Foreign Ministry took issue Monday with a revised U.S. government fact sheet that removed a line on American opposition to independence for Taiwan.

The update made by the US Department of State in its online fact sheet on America's relations with Taiwan has drawn flak from China, with the latter accusing the Trump administration of serious regression for its position on Taiwan,
