The gunman in a fatal attack at Florida State University had a history of espousing radical right-wing conspiracy theories and hateful ideas.

The man suspected of killing two people and wounding six others in the mass shooting at Florida State University is the stepson of a local sheriff's deputy. Classmates say the suspect had espoused far-right views.

Police believe the gunman acted alone and a motive was not known. The suspect had access to his mother's handgun, which was once her service weapon.
