The Philippines curling team has been rocking it in Harbin, China, claiming the tropical country’s first Asian Winter Games medal with a victory in the men’s final against South Korea.

Korea defeated the home team China for the women's curling title at the Asian Winter Games on Friday, grabbing its 16th and final gold medal of the competition.

The Philippines won gold after winning the final against South Korea. This year’s Games are the first to which Hong Kong has sent a curling team. The city has appeared in six previous Asian Winter Games, going back to the first in Sapporo in 1986, but never won a medal.

Associated Press photographers captured the most exciting moments of the first six days of the Asian Winter Games, including some gravity-defying moves from ice hockey, figure skating and the Alpine skiing events teams.

Husain Al Musallam, director general of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), noted that the Harbin Asian Winter Games has set a benchmark for major multi-sport events in Asia.
