A cause of death for British soap opera star Paul Danan has been determined. The actor died in January from the combined toxicity of heroin, methadone, codeine, pregabalin, cocaine and zopiclone, as well as benzodiazepine use, an officer with the Avon Coroner in England confirmed to USA TODAY on Wednesday. He was 46.

The “Bold and the Beautiful” producers partnered with GLAAD to craft Maya’s story. Scott Turner Schofield later joined the cast as Nick, a transgender man who mentors Maya as she comes out to her community. Schofield became the first openly transgender actor to play a major role on daytime TV.

BRISTOL, England (WKRC) - The cause of death for a soap opera actor was revealed months after his death at 46 years old. 46-year-old Paul Danan was found deceased in his home at around 5:20 p.m. on Jan. 15 by his partner, Melissa Crooks, Coroner's officer Alexis Camp told BBC.

"You've got to have money - lots of it," says one resident of the suburb that has inspired a ground-breaking soap opera.
