The California Department of Fish and Wildlife responded to a report that a momma bear had apparently been hit by a car and was found with its cub lying in an apartment parking lot in Truckee.

So, another chick may debut a little later. In 2022, Jackie and Shadow successfully hatched an eaglet, later named Spirit via a contest held by Friends of Big Bear Valley.

"It could be a few days. We'll just have to watch and see what happens," said Sandy Steers, the executive director of Friends of Big Bear Valley, a nonprofit that runs the eagles' webcam.

According to Friends of Big Bear Valley, the third egg, being younger, may hatch later. The live cam draws tens of thousands of viewers to the FBBV website to watch the hatching process.
