Red Hand Day on 12th February and the campaign to stop the use of child soldiers are existing for over 15 years. Hundreds and thousands of handprints have been collected in more than 50 countries and handed over to politicians and to responsible parties, including UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

Red Hand Day is observed annually on February 12 as a call-to-action event to bring an end to child soldiers, also known as ‘International Day Against the Use of Child Soldiers.’ Pleas are made to the government and political leaders, events are staged to end the use of children as soldiers and bring them home.

Feburary 12th is Red Hand Day—an international awareness day to acknowledge the thousands of boys and girls who are recruited into armed groups. These children witness horrific violence and experience severe trauma.
