I don't know much about English bikes or what their saddle bags looked like in the late 50s but I would assume they could have been similar and just Schwinn badged. Also note the only 50s and early 60s Schwinns that came with original equipment saddle bags was the traveler.

Dec 30, 2016 · They were made for Triumph, BMW, BSA, etc. in the 50's and 60's. BUCO made soft leather bags often found on Indian and Harley's for $$$$. The early version have bullet lenses and the later have flat-top lenses. The hard part is finding the brackets with the bags if you're trying to fit to a particular bike.

Dec 29, 2016 · Here's a set of period correct bags I had on a 59 Western Flyer Golden Flyer that I sold earlier this year. I don't recall seeing any hard bags offered back in the day. I don't think saddle bags ever became real popular in the U.S. I mostly think of them as a European thing.

Though it's a decent saddle, I was wondering if it's possible to get a vintage saddle that has basically shot as to its leather and then to recover the saddle with new leather, leaving the original hardware. It would basically look authentic but have new leather on top for riding.

Jun 13, 2016 · It had a Brooks saddle that was made up of a bunch of small springs running lengthwise. Hated it. I bought the "Sofa Saddle" from the old Memory Lane about 20 years back. Kinda the old style look, built of thick molded foam. It was ok. The wife liked it on her 58 Schwinn, compared to the hard vinyl original saddle. I didn't care for it that much.

(see attached photo from 40 years ago) The "Toolbox" saddle on my 1936 Silver King M-1 is genuine leather. The "Toolbox" saddle on my 1930s CCM Flyte (see attached photo from 35 years ago) is genuine leather (somewhat shriveled).
