Bettison has served as Interim Chief of Police since November when James E. White, who served as the Chief of Police for three years, became CEO of the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network.

Todd Bettison, who will replace James E. White, had a distinguished 27-year career at the Detroit Police Department, retiring as 1st Assistant Chief of Police – the second highest ranking member of the department – before accepting the position of Deputy Mayor in 2021.
